If the mid semester feedback system were to be assigned as the term project for this class, I would be most comfortable implementing it as a file based Win32 C++ application. I am completely confident in my ability to complete this project in that form. I would however prefer to stretch my abilities and take on a less familiar implementation environment. I would want to develop the project using a web-based interface with server side PHP or CGI scripts to access a mySQL database. I am familiar enough with all of these to expect that I could complete the project, but not so familiar that the project would be uninteresting.

The contributions I would make to a team developing the mid semester feedback system include:
  • C/C++ Programming. I am a very good C/C++ programmer.

  • Win32 Knowledge. I have developed several applications with graphical interfaces using Windows GDI and C++.

  • HTML Programming. Good old-fashioned hand coded webstuff. JavaScript too!

  • PHP and mySQL. I have some familiarity with both these as well as web space that provides them.

  • Web Space. I can host the team's web site with PHP and mySQL access.

  • Graphics. I can use Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro to create and format graphics.

  • Commitment. I will complete this project and contribute whatever is necessary to its success. Tasks that I am assigned will be completed correctly and on time.

  • Areas that do not fit my skills or abilities include:
  • Project Documentation.

  • Performing interviews and surveys.

  • Coding in Java/VB/MFC.
